The Yemeni Institute of Directors organized, in cooperation with the Central Bank of Yemen, a workshop on “Governance and its dimensions on the strategic success of banks” on Thursday,

The participants in the workshop recommended the following:
1. That the boards of directors conduct a periodic self-evaluation of the extent of applying the principles of the governance guide and implementing corrective actions in light of the evaluation process
2. That banks train and develop the capabilities of members of boards of directors after ensuring their choice includes a mix of experiences, skills, and executive departments to activate their roles in developing the performance of banks
3. Implementing a series of awareness-raising programs for leaders and workers in banks on banking governance in the light of the banks guide
4. Activating the role of boards of directors in the process of continuous guidance and oversight in an effort to improve the performance of banks
5. Working on the periodic evaluation of the boards of directors periodically in order to continuously improve the performance of the council in the processes of directing and monitoring the performance of banks.
6. The boards of directors of banks must establish a governance committee within a short period of time.
7. Continue to hold workshops and programs for members of boards of directors in banks. 8. Work workshops and training programs for executive leaders in banks.
In introductory seminar on corporate governance concepts, held in Sana’a, on Sunday 21-12-2014, was organized by the Yemeni Institute of Directors of the Yemeni Business Club in cooperation with the Faculty of Administrative Sciences at the University of Science and Technology.

The Yemeni Institute of Directors affiliated with the Yemeni Business Club organized In Sana’a, on Saturday 28 February, a workshop on “Governance and its Impact on the Institutional Development of Islamic Banks” was conducted. The workshop targeted Al-Thiqa Islamic Bank.
The workshop, in which a number of administrative leaders in the Islamic Solidarity Bank participated, aimed at identifying best practices in the governance of banks, the benefits accruing to them, the importance of governance in Islamic banks, the role of the Board of Directors in applying its principles in banks, their requirements, rules and factors contributing to the proper application of the governance system and the legal framework And control of the governance of Islamic banks.

The Yemeni Institute of Directors inaugurates the founding meeting of the team preparing the guide for small and medium companies in Yemen.
The Yemeni Institute of Directors (one of the entities affiliated with the Yemeni Business Club) inaugurated the first founding meeting of the technical team for the preparation of a governance guide for small and medium enterprises in Yemen, which was formed from a professional group representing many authorities related to the topic of the guide.
In the first founding meeting, Sister Ghadeer Al-Maqahfi, the institute’s project officer, reviewed a brief definition of the institute, its activities and goals. After that, the idea of the draft guide was presented by the acting director of the institute, Brother Muhammad Ismail Hamnah, followed by discussions by the participants that focused on setting priority ideas and dividing the basic stages. For the draft guide, and suggesting roles in principle among the participants, and the meeting concluded with useful recommendations for the work of the team in the coming days.
It is worth mentioning that the project comes as a joint cooperation between the Yemeni Institute of Directors and the International Finance Corporation, and the Institute has previously issued several similar guides related to the work of the private sector..
