On Sunday 14, March 2021, the Yemeni Institute of Directors (YIoD)one of the Yemeni Business Club (YBC) entities- in cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), implemented Ring the Bell global event for the third year, which aims to get “bell rings” all over the world, to draw the attention to the essential role that the private sector can play in enhancing the role of women and their inclusion in boards of directors and business leadership, achieve SDGs, and raise awareness of the principles of women’s empowerment (WEPs). The event and its panel focused on the most important points, including the challenges that women are facing to reach senior positions or boards of directors from all perspectives, opportunities for women to reach such positions, the specificity of the Yemeni work environment, and recommendations for women and relevant parties for better involvement of women in business leadership. The event was attended by women and businessmen at the executive and board levels, young entrepreneurs, members of the board of directors of the Yemeni Business Club (YBC), the Yemeni Institute of Directors (YIoD), and the Business Support Center (BSC), a representative of Mistry of Industry and Commerce, as well as representatives of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and partners in local organizations. The event was closed by ringing the bell and announcing that Yemen is one of the countries that confirm to encourage and enhance the role of women in boards of directors and the business environment leadership.
