Board Of Directors Series Program (BDS)-Run 10 Part 3

On Wednesday and Thursday 15-16  March  2023, the Yemeni Institute of Directors (YIoD), one of the Yemeni Business Club entities, implemented the third part of the Board Member Series program in its tenth run, using the IFC methodology, for board members in many companies and banks. The program focused on Its financial part and contains the financial details of the board of directors. What matters to the members of the board of directors is knowing about financial management, disclosure, and transparency. The participants in the program will complete the last part according to the program’s plan on the legal topic.

Ring the bell-5

For the fifth year the Yemeni Institute of Directors is holding Ring the Bell Event.
On March 11, 2023, we organized an awareness session on the importance of having women in the business community and board of directors. The event was attended by over 30 participants, including business owners, executives, and professionals from different industries epically from the Yemeni Business Club, the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce, and Arab Governance Forum. The purpose of the session was to raise awareness about the benefits of gender diversity in the workplace and the need to promote women’s leadership and participation in decision-making processes. In addition to ringing the bell for them.

The session discussed the current state of gender diversity in the business community and the board of directors, and it highlighted the low representation of women in leadership positions and the benefits of having a diverse and inclusive workplace. The presenters also discussed the challenges faced by women in the workplace, such as discrimination, unconscious bias, and work-life balance.

The session also included a Q&A part, where participants had the opportunity to ask questions and share their experiences and perspectives. The event concluded with a call to action, urging participants to take concrete steps to promote women’s leadership and gender diversity in their organizations.

On Wednesday and Thursday, February 22-23, 2023, the Yemeni Institute of Directors (YIoD) implemented the second part of the Board Member Series program BDS-10  with the IFC methodology, in its tenth run, for members of the board of directors of elite Yemeni companies. During this part, the role of the board of directors was discussed in Managing the company’s strategy, the interaction between the board of directors and the company’s management, and many of the topics that were addressed in the aspect of planning and succession of power. The issue of involving women in boards of directors and senior leadership was also discussed.

The Yemeni Institute of Directors (YIoD), one of the Yemeni Business Club (YBC) projects, implemented the first part of the Accredited Board Member Series program for the tenth run. The program was attended by members of the board of directors of elite Yemeni companies and banks on Wednesday and Thursday 1-2 February 2023. The first part gave the general entrance for corporate governance, forms and composition of boards of directors, methods of board evaluation, and the board’s most important roles and tasks. Governance and its Role in Corporate Sustainability

On Sunday, October 2, 2022, the Yemeni Institute of Directors (YIoD), one of the Yemeni Business Club projects, in cooperation with the Investors and Business Development Association (IBDA) in Turkey, carried out an awareness workshop entitled “Governance and its Role in Corporate Sustainability” The workshop was trained and facilitated by Eng. Ghadeer Al-Maqhafi – the Executive Director of the Institute The workshop was attended by several businessmen, businesswomen, and entrepreneurs.
The session focused on defining governance and its importance in the sustainability of companies and banks, and the roles and responsibilities of the concerned parties about governance. The session included interventions and questions raised by the attendees and greatly influenced the discussion.

Governance Practices and its Applications in the Arab Countries – 2

In order to achieve the goal of raising awareness of governance practices and identifying the latest practices in the Arab world, the Yemeni Institute of Directors (YIoD) participated in coordinating the second webinar with the Arab Forum on Governance entitled “Governance Practices and its Applications in the Arab Countries – 2” (UAE – Lebanon – Morocco) on Thursday, September 29, 2022.

1- Dr. Rachid Eltaher (Professor of Business Law at Hassan I University in Morocco – Ph.D. in Corporate Governance) – Morocco.
2- Dr. Ashraf Gamal El Din Abdel Rahman (CEO of Dubai Governance Institute – Non-Executive Board Member – Professor at the Faculty of Commerce, Cairo University – Ph.D. in Management from Manchester University) – UAE.
3- Dr. Azza Suleiman (Ph.D. in Law from the University of Paris II in private law – a lecturer at the Lebanese University since 2009 – a visiting professor at Sultan Qaboos University) – Lebanon.
