Governance And Its Impact On The Institutional Development of Islamic Banks
The Yemeni Institute of Directors affiliated with the Yemeni Business Club organized In Sana’a, on Saturday 28 February, a workshop on “Governance and its Impact on the Institutional Development of Islamic Banks” was conducted. The workshop targeted Al-Thiqa Islamic Bank.
The workshop, in which a number of administrative leaders in the Islamic Solidarity Bank participated, aimed at identifying best practices in the governance of banks, the benefits accruing to them, the importance of governance in Islamic banks, the role of the Board of Directors in applying its principles in banks, their requirements, rules and factors contributing to the proper application of the governance system and the legal framework And control of the governance of Islamic banks.
In the workshop, two members of the Board of Directors of the Islamic Solidarity Bank, Mohamed Abdou Said and Dr. Abdo Al-Daqqaf pointed out to the importance of the workshop in defining the concept of governance, its application and its role in the development process .. The Yemeni Institute of Directors inaugurates the founding meeting of the team preparing the guide for small and medium companies in Yemen.
The Yemeni Institute of Directors (one of the entities affiliated with the Yemeni Business Club) inaugurated the first founding meeting of the technical team for the preparation of a governance guide for small and medium enterprises in Yemen, which was formed from a professional group representing many authorities related to the topic of the guide.
In the first founding meeting, Sister Ghadeer Al-Maqahfi, the institute’s project officer, reviewed a brief definition of the institute, its activities and goals. After that, the idea of the draft guide was presented by the acting director of the institute, Brother Muhammad Ismail Hamnah, followed by discussions by the participants that focused on setting priority ideas and dividing the basic stages. For the draft guide, and suggesting roles in principle among the participants, and the meeting concluded with useful recommendations for the work of the team in the coming days.
It is worth mentioning that the project comes as a joint cooperation between the Yemeni Institute of Directors and the International Finance Corporation, and the Institute has previously issued several similar guides related to the work of the private sector..

The Yemeni Institute of Directors YIoD implemented the qualitative qualification program, preparing trainers in the field of governance (TOT) in its third edition, during the period 12-13 October 2016, in cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC). Where the program aimed to prepare specialized trainers in the field of corporate governance with a focus on small and medium enterprises, where a number of trainers from different disciplines participated in the program (corporate governance – business administration – accounting and financial management – banking sciences – marketing – human resources – rights and law) . Participants praised the importance of having efficient trainers in corporate governance, which in turn are of urgent importance today.

Thursday 27 October The Yemeni Institute of Directors (one of the entities of the Yemeni Business Club) in cooperation with the founders of International Finance concluded the second program for the year 2016 in preparing trainers in corporate governance, where the program was attended by 18 participants and participants from various administrative specialties. The program, presented by Dr. Adnan Al-Sada and Professor Anwar Mahyoub, focused on the primary keys to corporate governance and presentation skills for the category of members of boards of directors and senior managers in Yemeni companies. In a statement to Sister Ghadeer Al-Muqhafi, the Institute’s projects officer, she explained the importance of obtaining a professional and specialized local team in corporate governance so that the Yemeni business environment can receive the concept of corporate governance and start applying the best practices it recommends starting from awareness and ending with the true application of corporate governance requirements.
