Ring The Bell -4

On Monday 14, March 2022, the Yemeni Institute of Directors (YIoD) one of  the Yemeni Business Club (YBC) entities – in cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), implemented Ring the Bell global event for the fourth year, which aims to get “bell rings” all over the world, to draw the attention to the essential role that the private and public sector can play in enhancing the role of women and their inclusion in boards of directors and business leadership,  achieve SDGs, and raise awareness of the principles of women’s empowerment (WEPs).The event and its panel focused on the most important points, including the challenges that women are facing to reach senior positions or boards of directors from different perspectives, opportunities for women to reach such positions, the specificity of the Yemeni work environment, and recommendations for women and relevant parties for better involvement of women in business leadership. This year we focused on the public sector decision makers just as the privet one. The event was attended by women and businessmen at the executive and board levels, as well as representatives of the governance side,The event was closed by ringing the bell and announcing that Yemen is one of the countries that confirms to encourage and enhance the role of women in business environment.

Board Secretary Program CS- Run 4

The Yemeni Institute of Directors implemented the Board Secretary Program in its fourth run during 24 intensive training hours using the International Finance Corporation methodology during the period (13-15) March 2022. The training focused on the roles of secretaries, the formation and evaluation of the Board of Directors, and its role in the dynamics of the Board’s meetings and the development of the governance system and its applications.

Board Of Directors Series Program (BDS)-Run 8 Part 3

On Wednesday and Thursday 2-3 March 2022, the Yemeni Institute of Directors (YIoD), one of the Yemeni Business Club entities, implemented the third part of the Board Member Series program in its eighth run, using the IFC methodology, for board members in many companies and banks. The program focused on Its financial part and contains the financial details of the board of directors. What matters to the members of the board of directors is knowing about financial management, disclosure, and transparency. The participants in the program will complete the last part according to the program’s plan on the legal topic.

Board Of Directors Series Program (BDS)-Run 8 -Part 2

On Saturday and Sunday, February 19-20, 2022, the Yemeni Institute of Directors (YIoD) implemented the second part of the Board Member Series program with the IFC methodology, in its eighth run, for members of the board of directors of elite Yemeni companies and banks. During this part, the role of the board of directors was discussed in Managing the company’s strategy, the interaction between the board of directors and the company’s management, and many of the topics that were addressed in the aspect of planning and succession of power. The issue of involving women in boards of directors and senior leadership was also discussed.

Board Of Directors Series Program (BDS)-Run 8 -Compensatory part

The Yemeni Institute of Directors-YIoD, one of the entities of the Yemeni Business Club-YBC, implemented on Wednesday and Thursday 2-3 February 2022  in cooperation with the International Finance Corporation IFC the compensatory part for the first part of the Board Member Series program in its eighth run for members of the boards of directors of a number of private sector companies and Yemeni banks, The part gave the general introduction to corporate governance, the forms, and composition of boards of directors, methods of evaluating the board, its most important roles, and tasks, in addition to the internal and external frameworks of governance.

The event was attended by women and businessmen at the executive and board levels, young entrepreneurs, members of the board of directors of the Yemeni Business Club (YBC), the Yemeni Institute of Directors (YIoD), and the Business Support Center (BSC), a representative of Mistry of Industry and Commerce, as well as representatives of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and partners in local organizations. The event was closed by ringing the bell and announcing that Yemen is one of the countries that confirm to encourage and enhance the role of women in boards of directors and the business environment leadership.

BDS Program- Run 7-Part 4

The Yemeni Institute of Directors (YIoD), in cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), concluded on Wednesday, September 30, the fourth and final part of the BDS Certified Board Member Program – the seventh edition, with the participation of a variety of representatives of Yemeni companies and banks, where the program focused in its legal part on aspects Legal matters related to the board of directors and what the members of boards of directors know about.

BDS Program- Run 7- Part 3

The Yemeni Institute of Directors (YIoD), one of the entities of the Yemeni Business Club (YBC), on Tuesday and Wednesday 25-26 August 2020, in cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), implemented the third part of the board member program approved in its seventh version for members of the board of directors of the Yemeni Islamic Insurance Company and Yemen Mobile Where the program focused in its financial part on the financial details of the board of directors and what matters to board members to know about financial management. Participants in the program will complete the last part according to the program’s plan in the legal topic.

Introductory Workshop On Corporate Governance- Alhudidah

For the first time in Al Hudaydah Governorate and in cooperation with the Al Hudaydah Chamber of Commerce and Industry,The Yemeni Institute of Directors conducts an introductory workshop on corporate governance in Al Hudaydah GovernorateOn Thursday morning, 18 May 2017, the first introductory workshop was held in Al Hudaydah governorate on corporate governance, which targeted a number of businessmen in the governorate, In the workshop,  Dr. Muhammad Ismail Hamana, Secretary General of the Yemeni Business Club Board of Directors gave a speech welcoming the participants and reviewed the goals of the Yemeni Business Club and a historical brief on the origins and development of activities in the field of governance, leading to the establishment of the Yemeni Institute of Managers, which has become the main bearer of the concept of governance and its applications in the sector The Yemeni Special, reviewing the efforts made by the Yemeni Institute of Directors in cooperation with its strategic partner, IFC.For his part, Mr. Mohamed Abdel Wahid, Director General of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hodeidah gave a brief speech in which he welcomed the attendees, thanking the organizers of this workshop for their interest in educating the private sector in the province with such concepts that its application would improve performance in private sector institutions and companies, Then the Hodeidah Chamber was honored with the Yemeni Institute Shield of Directors, presented by Eng. Ghadeer Al-Moqhafi, Acting Director of the InstituteThis was followed by the start of the training workshop, which lasted for about three hours, which included the definition of governance, its concepts and basic principles, responsibilities and tasks of the relevant parties, in particular the corporate boards, and the desired benefits from applying those concepts and challenges facing the applications of governance,The meeting was attended by a number of commercial houses in Hodeidah Governorate, and a group of businessmen and interested people.

Introductory Workshop On Corporate Governance

Here, specifically from the governorate of Ibb and in cooperation with the Ibb Chamber of Commerce and Industry, The Yemeni Institute of Managers is implementing an introductory workshop on companies in Ibb Governorate.

On the morning of Sunday, May 21, 2017, the first introductory workshop was held in Ibb governorate on corporate governance, which targeted a number of businessmen in the governorate. In the workshop, Brother / Sami Sabha, a member of the Board of Directors, gave a speech welcoming the participants and expressed his happiness at the presence of an economic partner such as the Chamber of Commerce , Reviewing the efforts made by the Yemeni Institute of Directors in cooperation with its strategic partner, IFC, For his part,Mr. Abd El-Elah El Khatib, member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry – the head of the services department, gave a brief speech in which he welcomed the attendees, thanking the organizers of this workshop for their interest in educating the private sector in the province with such concepts that its application would improve performance in private sector institutions and companies.

Then, the Ibb Chamber was honored with the Yemeni Institute Shield for Directors, presented by Eng. Ghadeer Al-Moqhafi, Acting Director of the Institute.

It is worth noting that most of the ancient commercial houses in the governorate attended the workshop and showed their interaction with the concepts that were put forward by the institute team, and on his part, Sheikh Qasim Al-Absi, the deputy governor of Ibb, attended.

This was followed by the start of the training workshop, which included the definition of governance, its concepts, basic principles, responsibilities and tasks of related parties, in particular companies’ boards of directors, and the desired benefits from applying those concepts and challenges facing the applications of governance.
